Job Description: Dance Community Liaison - Southern New Mexico

​

Duration: May 1 – December 31, 2025


Overall Responsibilities:  Safos Dance Theatre is seeking a dedicated and skilled Community Liaison serving Southern New Mexico (including Las Cruces, Ruidoso, Alamogordo, Roswell, and nearby communities)  to join our team. Ideal candidate is an active member of the Southern New Mexico dance and/or arts community. The Community Liaison will serve as a vital link between dancers and artists in Southern New Mexico and the Dance in the Desert administrative team (Director, Researchers, Program Coordinator, and fellow Community Liaisons) . The contractor will facilitate communication and data collection while facilitating community and relationship building across geographies. This role involves community outreach and organization, scheduling interviews and travel, data collection, and supporting research for Dance in the Desert.  Some travel required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Flexible schedule: remote/telecommute, part-time. Position reports to Yvonne Montoya. 

 

This is a short term, grant funded contract from May 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025.

Seeking Someone With:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Detail oriented for data collection. 

  • Excellent people skills and ability to create positive relationships with others.

  • Experience with the dance communities in Southern New Mexico.

  • Experience in organizing travel is a plus.

  • Day time availability 

  • High self-motivation and strong organizational skills

  • Strategic thinker with solutions focused mindset

  • Excellent attention to detail 

  • Ability to multitask and work in small teams

Southern New Mexico residence preferred.

​

Areas of Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as a community liaison for urban and rural communities in Southern New Mexico for Dance in the Desert. 

  • Community outreach including in person meetings, emailing and phone calls to dance artists in the region .

  • Community organizing including scheduling one-on-one interviews with dancers artists throughout the region, assisting with organizing travel around the region.

  • Assisting with data collection including in person interviews and online quantitative surveys.

  • Attending meetings with the DITD evaluation team as necessary.

Terms of Contract:

  • The dates for this contract are May 1- Dec 31, 2025. 

  • The rate is $15/hour for a maximum of $2000 honorarium or approximately 134 hours for 2025. 

  • Contractor is considered independent and not an employee of Safos Dance Theatre

  • No benefits are available with this position.
