Safos Dance Theatre is a small emerging non-profit dance company founded in Tucson, AZ in 2009.
We collaborate with other Latinx serving and/or AZ-based organizations to offer programs that fulfill our mission.

Stories from Home
Stories from Home is a dance piece by choreographer and founding artistic director Yvonne Montoya. The work is a physical embodiment of the oral traditions of the American Southwest.
This project offers Safos the chance to directly support Arizona and Southwest based dance artists while sharing important stories from the Southwest with dance audiences nation wide.
Las Fronterizas
Las Fronterizas Is a collective of three AZ-based arts organizations, Safos Dance Theatre, Rising Youth Theatre, and Border Arts Corridor, and six women artists who work to create art across borders.
Safos is the lead dance organization on the project. Las Fronterizas serves dance artists from the U.S., Mexico, and Guatemala. Latin America.
Dance in the Desert
Dance in the Desert allows us to directly support the work of Arizona-based Mexican American, Chicana, and Latina/o/e/x dancemakers and performers while introducing their work to new audiences.
We develop opportunities through workshops and master classes to reach and serve dancemakers in Tucson, Phoenix, Douglas, and Agua Prieta who have a passion and interest in learning and performing.
